Welcome to My Tenure Portfolio
Hello and welcome! My name is Anna Truss, and I’m honored to share my journey as an educator, cybersecurity professional, and lifelong learner through this portfolio.
I have spent more than 25 years in the IT field and over 15 years specializing in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. In 2013, I founded my own company, where I continue to provide cybersecurity, web development, and forensic consulting services to organizations of all sizes. These real-world experiences deeply shape the way I teach, ensuring that my students gain practical, industry-relevant skills that prepare them for the challenges of today’s digital landscape.
My path to teaching began right here at Edmonds College, where I earned my first degrees before continuing on to complete my B.S. in IT (Cybersecurity Technology) and M.S. in Cybersecurity. Along the way, I discovered that my greatest professional joy comes from empowering others — helping students gain confidence, develop critical thinking, and find their own paths in technology. I’ve also earned multiple professional certifications, including CSFA, CFCE, CAWFE, ICMDE, CEH, CHFI, E|CIH, Security+, and A+, which allow me to bring current, credible expertise into every classroom.
I believe that the best learning happens when students are actively engaged and supported. My teaching approach emphasizes hands-on learning, real-world problem solving, and a collaborative environment where students’ diverse experiences are valued. I continually update my courses to reflect the fast-changing nature of cybersecurity, blending technical rigor with mentorship and encouragement.
Beyond the classroom, I reside in Lynnwood, Washington with my amazing son. We love exploring the Pacific Northwest, even when it rains, and enjoying the breathtaking beauty our state has to offer.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my tenure portfolio. I hope this collection of teaching materials, service, and professional accomplishments reflects my deep commitment to student success, academic excellence, and lifelong learning in web development, cybersecurity and information systems.
